Who keeps this house

Line-art portrait of Tiago, his hair drawn as little flames

I’m Tiago — a father of four in Porto. The house on this site is ours.

I’ve spent ten years building things people use every day. Codeplace, a programming school, taught over 100,000 students; the rest is at notacompany.com.

Why the guides exist

Every guide to Matosinhos I could find was written from somewhere else — assembled out of other people’s reviews by somebody who has never queued outside the market at half past six in the morning. They can tell you a restaurant exists. They can’t tell you it fills by noon, or which day the kitchen closes, or what to order once you sit down.

So the rule here is simple, and I hold to it even when it makes a page shorter: a place is recommended because I have been, or because somebody I name has been. Opening hours and prices come from the business’s own listing, with the date I read them. Nothing is invented — not a walking time, not a price, not a review.

Where to start

There are two guides — Matosinhos and Porto — and behind them every place I recommend, one page each.

The house is two streets from all of it.

Two bedrooms, sleeps four; twelve minutes to the sand, about half an hour to central Porto.
