Bangkok Thai Cuisine
On Avenida Menéres, and Tiago's call is not a small one: the best pad thai in Porto, in Matosinhos rather than the city. It is the plate people come for, with mango sticky rice — khao neeo mamuang — close behind. 15–20 € a head, and it is really for the fourth night of a trip, when another plate of grilled fish is not the answer.

- 8 min walk · 3 min driveon Rua Brito Capelo in Matosinhos
- Best for
- The pad thai, on the night nobody can face more Portuguese food
- Worth knowing
- Closed Sundays, which is the night a lot of guests are looking for exactly this. Portions are the recurring note: more than one reviewer says the cooking is very good but the doses are small for the price, so order an extra dish rather than assume a main will do it. Lunch is 12h–15h and dinner 19h–22h, half an hour later on a Saturday.
Avenida Menéres 402, in the middle of town rather than out on the seafront.
The pad thai
Tiago's verdict is the best pad thai in Porto, which is a claim about a city of a quarter of a million people made from a restaurant in Matosinhos. The room points at the same plate: pad thai ahead of everything else on the menu, and after it the mango sticky rice — khao neeo mamuang — which people ask for by its Thai name rather than a translation.
Why it earns a place on a hub about a fishing town
Because of the fourth night. Matosinhos does one thing extraordinarily well and it does it everywhere, and there is a point in a week-long stay when a family wants something that is not grilled fish. This is in the middle of town, and it is not a compromise.
Two things to know
It is closed on Sundays. And the portions are the recurring note — a comida é deliciosa mas as doses são pequenas para os preços praticados, as one review puts it: the food is delicious but the servings are small for what they cost. Order more than you think, at 15–20 € a head.

The recommendation on this page is his, first-hand, from eating here as a resident rather than as a visitor — which is the only basis on which this hub recommends a restaurant at all. What he vouches for is the food and whether he goes back. He is not a critic, has not eaten the whole menu, and everything else on this page — hours, prices, what other people order — is sourced separately and marked.
- Bangkok Thai Cuisine · Google Business Profile · 2026
The business's own listing, read 8 September 2026, and the source for the hours and the price band. Its reviewers mention pad thai 28 times, ahead of khao neeo mamuang, prawns and tofu; it opens Monday to Friday 12h–15h and 19h–22h, Saturday until 22h30, closed Sunday, at 15–20 € a head. Hours and prices are what the business publishes about itself; the dish tallies are Google's count of how many reviewers mentioned a thing, which is evidence of what people order, not of whether it is good. The star rating is not cited.
